HMRCs old bank accounts are closing – make sure you use the new ones

During 2009 HMRC moved its banking services from the Bank of England to Citi and Royal Bank of Scotland Group. This meant that all HMRC bank sort codes and account numbers changed during 2009.

The following is an excerpt taken from an Acas newsletter we have received and thought would be of interest:

From 'Sick Note' to 'Fit Note'

"The Statement of Fitness for Work, or 'fit note', is a new Medical Statement that GPs will issue from 6 April 2010.
It replaces the old 'sick note' and aims to focus on what an employee may be able to do at work rather than what they cannot do."

The older style of £20 notes showing Edward Elgar are no longer legal tender and should not be passing hands in general circulation as they were withdrawn officially on 30th June 2010.

Old Elgar £20 Notes
Most banks, building societies and Post Offices will, for a few months, accept the Elgar £20 notes for deposit to customer accounts and for other customer transactions. However, agreeing to exchange notes is at the discretion of the individual institution.
